Students

FSU’s Interdisciplinary Data Science Master's Degree Program is designed to provide students with specialized training in data science and analytics jointly administered by the five participating departments — computational linguisticscomputer sciencemathematics, scientific computing, and statistics — mainly through an executive committee. Students are required to take coursework evenly distributed across the core subject areas followed by major electives to round out training based on the student's particular strengths and interests.

FSU's IDS program appeals directly to students with undergraduate degrees in computational science, computer science, mathematics, or statistics, but is also of interest to students with less traditional backgrounds, such as physics. IDS program admission requirements are designed to select students with strong training in mathematics, statistics, computational science, and computer science that would be common across a range of undergraduate degrees.
